NATIONWIDE SERIES TEAM OWNER PENALIZED …Nationwide Series team owner Johnny Davis has been penalized by NASCAR for a rules violation following last weekend’s NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montreal. He was fined five thousand dollars and placed on probation until December 31st for actions detrimental to stock car racing.

Mules football has a quick turnaround with a road game Thursday evening in Normal, Ill., against the Redbirds of NCAA-I FCS Illinois State. Kick-off for the Mules final non-conference test of 2010 will be at 6:30 p.m.

The 2010 Soccer Cardinals beat Cole Camp 4-1 Tuesday night. Blake Anderson got two goals as well as Cody Ivie. Shawn Rhodes and Sean Bowling recorded assits. Alan Shriner was our goalie.
Losing 9 seniors from last year this year the squad is considerably younger, but not without promise.
Coached by Sean Hutchinson and Dee House they got off to a great start. On the road for two games the next home game is against Center on Tues Sept 14th. They play on the TK Memorial Field.

Hunters wishing to place a waterfowl hunting blind on Truman Lake may register at the Harry S. Tri-Star Soccer Contest
The Clinton Sunrise Optimist Club President Nolan Rutter wants to promote fun and good physical fitness for local children through this year’s Tri-Star Soccer Contest. The contest will be held on Saturday September 11th at the Tony Komer Soccer Complex at Hormeyer and Calvird Drive in Clinton.

Clinton Cross Country
The cross country teams competed at the Warrensburg time trials on Friday. Freshman Nicole Lee place first over the two mile course in a time of 13:40. Heather Goth was 8th, Aneisa Boehler was 9th and Whitney Gabbert placed 14th. In the boys competition Matt Knott placed third with a time of 11:55 while teammate Doug Hutcherson place 8th.

A third member of the Missouri football program has been arrested in August on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said Beau Brinkley — MU’s long snapper and a reserve tight end — was arrested at 12:22 a.m. Sunday in Columbia and charged with DWI. Brinkley also was citied for having improperly tinted windows on his vehicle.

Senior quarterback Eric Czerniewski broke two school passing records and led the Central Missouri Mules to a 60-13 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday night at Plaster Stadium.

Chiefs Lose at Home
The Kansas City Chiefs played their initial contest at the New Arrowhead on Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs held a 17-13 lead until Eagles WR Riley Cooper hauled in an 18-yard TD QB Mike Kafka with 0:23 remaining to give Philadelphia a 20-17 victory.

UCM football to host first game of MIAA Broadcasting Network
The University of Central Missouri will be the host of the first regionally televised football game of the new MIAA Broadcasting Network on Saturday, September 11 when the Mules face off against Emporia State. Due to the live broadcast window available, the game time has been moved to 2:20 p.m.

Missouri senior tailback Derrick Washington, a team captain, has been indefinitely suspended from the team, coach Gary Pinkel said Thursday.
Multiple sources told The Star that Washington had been accused in an off-the-field incident earlier this summer.

I just read this off ESPN, that a new NCAA report shows that just 14 of the 120 that make up the Football Bowl Subdivision showed a profit in 2009. Missouri is one of those schools. Back in 2008, there were only 25 schools that turned a profit.
