Good morning everyone! Though they had been scattered in nature, most of West Central Missouri received some much needed rainfall over the weekend. Here at the Weather Center in Henry County, we received 2.6″ of rainfall so far thus far and it is still coming down. There is a Tropical system forming today in the Northwestern Caribbean that is posed to become a strong Tropical storm. The track of this system is still being researched but there is a strong likelihood that it will affect our weather as we head into next weekend. Right now based on tracks and models the system would affect us Thursday through next week. This will be something we will have to monitor closely over the next few days as this system begins to form. Here is Gary Lezak’s update on this system that was predicted months ago….Subby
“As we welcomed the first day of fall this morning, it looks like we’re on the verge of validating another extraordinary forecast from Weather 20/20. Hurricane Hermine is poised to form, tracking closely along the path we predicted 6 1/2 months ago in our early March forecast guide. This Sunday morning’s model runs are zeroing in on a trajectory that leads into the northeast Gulf of Mexico by Thursday, with the potential for landfall by Thursday night. Take a look at the projections from the American GFS model for Thursday evening:

The focus is now converging on Apalachicola, with all indications pointing towards this area as a potential landfall site.
